What you'll need
- ✓ Under 8 months, travelling unaccompanied: health certificate, with the border reached within 72 hours of the examination. The clock runs forward from the exam, and this is the most common reason a crossing fails. A puppy riding with its owner needs rabies proof only.
- ✓ 8 months and older: no health certificate required at all. Rabies alone covers it.
- ✓ Rabies vaccination certificate from 12 weeks of age
- ✓ Sale receipt, if the pet was newly purchased, showing the date, a description, the words "non breeding", and the price paid. GST is payable on that value.
