For long-distance moves where driving isn't practical, we ship pets by air on the CargoJet overnight network out of Hamilton and Moncton. We handle the ground pickup, drop your pet at the warehouse, and coordinate the flight to any of the 14 cities below. We are a CargoJet customer, not an agent or a partner. We book the same way you would, and we handle the crate, the paperwork, and the warehouse drop.
Ground to the warehouse, air to the city, pickup the next day
CargoJet runs a dedicated overnight freighter network between major Canadian airports. For pets, that means an evening drop-off and a next-morning arrival, in a climate-controlled hold, without the connections and terminal stress of passenger travel.
Three reasons we use them, for client pets and for our own puppies. They fly at night, so the crate moves during the coolest hours instead of sitting on a hot ramp. They carry breeds passenger airlines turn away: bully breeds and short-nosed (brachycephalic) dogs like bulldogs, pugs, and boxers are refused or embargoed by most passenger carriers, and CargoJet takes them, subject to the same temperature limits that apply to every live animal shipment. And for domestic shipments inside Canada they require no vet paperwork at all: no health certificate and no rabies certificate, which saves you an appointment and at least $100. Cross-border moves into or out of the United States still need the full paperwork, and we handle that.
We bring your pet by ground to the CargoJet warehouse in Hamilton (southern Ontario) or Moncton (New Brunswick), whichever is closer to the breeder or shelter. CargoJet flies the pet overnight. At the destination city, you or a local contact collects from the CargoJet facility, or we arrange onward door-to-door ground where we run.
Air cargo is usually the better choice for cross-country moves (for example, the Maritimes to British Columbia) where the driving distance would mean multiple days on the road. For regional trips under about 12 hours, ground transport is often comparable or cheaper. Compare ground vs air cargo →
